Franco Pellizotti proves the pick of an elite six-rider group who decide the second stage of the Cop
PIC BY TDWSPORT.COM So close so often already this season, Liquigas-Bianchi climber Franco Pellizotti finally got his first win of the season on the second stage of the Coppi e Bartali stage race in Faenza today. Pellizotti won a six-man sprint that also included Giro d'Italia champion Damiano Cunego, who finished fifth. The decisive action took place on the Monte Trebbio climb, where there were several attempts to get clear. Eventually Pellizotti, Cunego, Panaria duo Luca Mazzanti and Paolo Tiralongo, Naturino's Francesco Casagrande and Fassa Bortolo's Mauro Facci got clear. Pellizotti's victory also carried him into the leader's jersey, where his advantage is now four seconds on Facci. Britain's Jamie Burrow finished ninth on the stage in a group that came in 51 seconds behind the leading sextet.
