Pro bikes at the London Bike Show

A selection of professional roadie rides from this year's show

This year’s London Bike Show was scattered with a selection of pro bikes for the public to ogle – here are a few that caught our eye.

Perhaps not as big of a draw since Rohan Dennis beat the hour record recently, previous record holder Matthias Brandle’s Scott Plasma is nevertheless a thing of beauty.

Based on Scott’s newest triathlon bike, this Plasma has a host of changes to make it track-specific, and legal, without losing too much of the superbike’s aero prowess.

We’ve featured Quintana’s Maglia Rosa pink Canyon before, but we weren’t going to turn down the chance to get up close to it in London. The only differences here appear to be the lack of a power meter on the Campagnolo Super Record cranks and that the saddle has been hoisted skyward from the diminutive Columbian’s usual position.

Chris Hoy was in attendance at the London Bike Show and so was his hand-built Shand keirin bike. First seen during the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, the commemorative bike was made by Scottish independent builders Shand to celebrate Hoy’s seven Olympic medals. The detailing and paint job look incredible up close.

Ok, so he’s not a pro cyclist, but he’s certainly a pro. F1 star Daniel Ricciardo has been outfitted with a 2015 Scott Foil decked out in Infiniti-Red Bull racing livery. The bike features full Dura-Ace Di2 and Syncros RR1.0 carbon clincher aero wheels – all suitably speedy for the blisteringly fast Aussie.

Giant was showing off a wide selection of bikes at the London Bike Show and while the brand’s Propel aero road range now starts at £1,399 / US$2,250 / AU$2,499, this top of the range version would set you back a lot more. The frame is the top-end Propel Advanced Pro with integrated seat mast rather than a seat post. Naturally for a Shimano-sponsored team, full Dura-Ace Di2 takes care of shifting while Dura-Ace C50 tubular wheels are light and aero – perfect for Marcel Kittel. The bike is finished with Pro stem, bars and saddle.
