Anyone who returns the affected units - the Bike Caddy LWB06 and LWB05 , also sold as the Mottez LWB33742 and LWB33735 - will receive a full refund.
The LWB06 is a towball-mounted 'pincer' rack (where two prongs support the bikes' top tubes) designed to carry three bikes. The LWB05 mounts on the spare wheel of a 4x4 and can also carry three bikes.
Madison said: "Following a change to the testing regime in France, the manufacturer of these products, Mottez, has requested Madison return the specified products. This is purely as a precaution following the change to the French testing standards and the products have not been standard to any incidents. This testing regime exceeds current European regulations and only applies in France."
People who bave nought the racks are asked to call Madison's customer care team on 0800 1300 598.
