Team Sky are offering members of the public the chance to ride with them at their official launch in London on 4 January.

Riders must join the squad's Facebook page and fill in a simple form. Three hundred will be selected at random to join the likes of Bradley Wiggins, Edvald Boasson Hagen and Juan Antonio Flecha.
But competition will be stiff – the Facebook page already has more than 10,000 fans. The lucky riders will receive a text message before 8am on the day of the ride providing details of the secret start location.
The initiative is part of broadcaster Sky's aim to get one million new cyclists on bikes by 2013.
Team Sky's roster was finalised earlier this month when, following months of speculation, it was announced that Wiggins would be joining the British-based squad. The team will ride Pinarello Dogmas.

"Whats to stop anyone joining in?"
The ride is going to be around one of Rupert Murdoch's walled gardens. (And if you try to join in he'll sue you for copyright infringement...)

All good getting your text before 8.00am on the day if you live next door, where does that leave the rest of Britain's fans who want to ride ?

Cheesy publicity stunt, already done by Armstrong not very original ...
He was riding at the worlds for GB in that picture when he was still with Garmin hence the Felt !

That's because he thought he had less than 300 friends....whereas I am sure Sky have had to restrict the numbers due to safety reasons, since it is being held in the anti cycling capital of England....

How bizarre.
Team Sky pick probably the busiest Monday of all the year when the world returns to work and organise it so that people don't know where it will be in London until 8am on that very same day. Three hundred may enter the competition but how many of the winners will actually get to the desitination in time?
Sounds like a last minute afterthought rather than a serious and planned strategy. The intent is nice but the execution is a shambles.

I'll be in Belfast - if I get the text how the hell am I (or anyone more than 50 miles away) supposed to get there for - I'm guessing - a 10am start? Not thought through at all!!

Nice offer - shame it's in London and out of reach of most of the UK's cyclists. What a suprise that they decided to launch there - why not the midlands or North of Britian.......
Or am I just being a cynical "Everything revloves around London and there is no other part of the UK!!!!" person.
BTW - that blue on the bikes and kit is dreadful.

Lawman, its about getting people on bikes, with the majority of Londoners not cycling, then it seems like a good idea to base it around london, with the largest population of the cities around the country.

What they mean is they want 300 londoners to ride with them.
Go team radioshack.

It was probably the police that put a limit on the numbers, and suggested a last minute reveal of the time/place.
We all know how fun runs/races have declined countrywide as a result of no-one wanting to take responsibility for groups of people taking physical exercise...

Why not ride with em? I pay their wages with my Lottery tickets and Sky subscriptions!
Perhaps they should pay me to turn up...
