Back to basics
In other Raleigh news, the classic British marque are returning to their roots for 2010, reviving the traditional heron's head as their corporate logo and running their first UK TV advertising campaign for over a decade.
The 30-second Christmas ad featuring the Raleigh Striker and Me to You bikes will be shown 350 times on Nickelodeon channels, meaning it should be seen by around three million children.

So Only kids with parents who drive BMW/Audi's who stick them infront of the TV to watch cartoons are going to see this ad? Most of them won't know what a chuffin' bike is, let alone how to ride one or even want to for that matter. Raleigh really know their demographic don't they? Are the old farts still running the place? FFS...

More BMW 3 series cars get sold in the UK than Mondeo's, so how can an ad reaching, in your opinion, every child of BMW/Audi/Mondeo owners be a bad thing?!?!? You have to remember that the days of needing to be rich to afford a satelite dish are long gone.......
(if you wonder where i got the figures for BMW sales from, it was from Top Gear, on Dave, thats another channel not numbered 1-5)

What is monsieur LP on about. I dont own a BMW, I drive a Land Rover, (British built), I ride Raleigh/Diamondback bikes (British Owned), and my child has seen the ad on You Tube!! We are cyclists, skiers & Mountaineers, and dont chose to be "bitter" with regard to ther people choice of car/life, what a patronising so & so. As Fun Bus says BMW 3 series are one of the most poular cars currently, so you cannot pigeon hole individuals!!!

I would have thought that Raleigh's target demo would be 'kids'. Kids watch TV.
Whether their parents drive run-of-the-mill rep-mobiles, like a 3-series, or CEO-shuttles like a 7-series can't have much bearing, surely?
The days of a kid's bike costing a month's wages for a parent are long-gone.
I choose to see this as a 'good' story - British company advertising bikes to kids. What's not to like?! :-)
