Recall of Gore RideOn brake cables

Safety concerns raised; dealers to replace affected models

Gore have issued a worldwide recall of some of their Ride On brake cables. The affected models are from the Low Friction and Professional lines and are designed to work with Campagnolo levers. 

The company say they've received a single report of a Campagnolo-style cable-end nipple snapping off and as they take safety very seriously they've decided to halt sales and start a voluntary recall. Shift cables aren't affected, nor are SRAM/Shimano brake cables or those supplied with SRAM Red groupsets.

UK distributors Madison say British buyers will be able to have their cables replaced for free by taking their bike to the shop where they bought them. There's no word yet from the US. The full list of affected cables is shown below:

  • Low friction brake bicycle cable kit – grey

  • Low friction brake bicycle cable kit – white
  • Low friction brake bicycle cable kit – blue
  • Low friction brake bicycle cable kit – red
  • Low friction brake for road cable kit – dealer box – black (set for 10 kits)

  • Low friction replacement brake cable (2350 mm) – bag of 10
  • Professional brake bicycle cable kits – black
  • Professional brake bicycle cable kits – white
  • Professional brake bicycle cable kits – blue
  • Professional brake bicycle cable kits – red
  • Professional brake bicycle cable kit – dealer box – black (set for 10 kits)
  • Professional brake bicycle cable kit – dealer box – white (set for 10 kits)
