Return of the Wild Boar 24 mountain bike challenge

24-hour endurance race in the Lake District

Details have been announced of this year's Wild Boar 24 mountain bike challenge, a 24-hour endurance race in the English Lake District.

It will take place from 16-17 May at Wythop Hall Estate in Keswick, Cumbria – a perfect warm-up for the Mountain Biking UK enduros at BikeRadar Live the following weekend.

A spokesman said: "Following on from our successful first outing last year, we’ve listened carefully to all our riders and are proud to announce the Wild Boar 24hr is back, new and improved, and ready to rock!

"We’ve invested lots of time and energy to find a classic 24-hour course, situated in the Lake District, where we can guarantee a fabulously stunning course that has been designed for mountain bikers by mountain bikers.

"We’re working on an eight-mile loop that incorporates lots of classic Lakeland riding. You’ll be discovering what the Lake District does best: mountains, moors, fell and forestry. Be under no illusion, it will be demanding but very satisfying!"

AY UP will provide lighting advice, while Shimano will help out with tech support. Local bike shop Wheelbase will be on hand too. It's the same weekend as the Keswick Mountain Festival, so there should be plenty to do for the whole family.
