Richmond, Virginia preparing Road World Championship bid?

Can the US secure the Worlds for the first time in 25 years?

Reports suggest the US has ambitions to host the 2015 UCI Road World Championships in Richmond, Virginia. USA Cycling have announced they'll stage a news conference tomorrow with Richmond mayor Dwight Jones to announce the city's bid for a major cycling event and the upcoming launch of a Richmond 2015 website.

The announcement said Richmond was bidding to host "an international cycling event that hasn't been held in the United States in almost 25 years". The UCI road Worlds were last staged on US soil at Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1986, while the mountain bike Worlds were staged in 2001 at Vail, Colorado.
