Ride with Garmin-Sharp for Bike MS

Garmin raises money for MS charity with Kansas City pro ride

GPS maker Garmin is offering a chance to ride with the Garmin-Sharp pro team as a fundraiser for Bike MS, which battles Multiple Sclerosis.

Garmin is hosting a ride with its sponsored team in its hometown of Kansas City, Kansas, on August 27, following the USA Pro Cycling Challenge.

The 20-mile VIP ride costs a $100 donation to Bike MS.  Garmin is selling 100 spots.

“Our European offices occasionally have rides with the team, but this is the only ride we do like this in the U.S.,” said Garmin’s social media manager Jake Jacobson.

The Garmin-Sharp line-up at the ride will be the USA Pro Cycling Challenge roster, which has yet to be determined.

“In the past, it’s been mostly American riders, with guys like Christian Vande Velde, Dave Zabriskie and Tom Danielson,” Jacobson said.

“People love it that they get to meet and ride next to their favorite pros. And the pros have a blast talking to the crowd. In fact, this year we adjusted the schedule so that they’re not rushing off to the airport afterward. We’ll have time to meet and mingle some more after the ride. And the best part is that it benefits Bike MS. Last year our team of employees/friends/family - “The Other Team Garmin” - raised $25,000, and that’s on top of our corporate sponsorship of the event.”
