Rocky Mountain names cross-country team

World Cup, Olympic victories targeted

Rocky Mountain Bicycles announces its 2008 Olympic ambitious cross-country team, lead by silver medalists Marie-Hélène Prémont  (Athens 2004) and Alison Sydor (Atlanta 1996). 

Along with Prémont and Sydor, 2007 Cape Epic mixed category third-place finisher Jean Anne McKirdy returns, with Max Plaxton, a 2006 World Champion Bronze medalist, and Raphael Gagne pursuing World Cup and Olympic dreams. The team's schedule includes Trans Rockies (www.transrockies.com), Trans Alps, Trans Germany and the BC Bike Race (www.bcbikerace.com).

Andreas Hestler, three time winner of the Trans Rockies, will be racing select events, including the BC Bike Race with Plaxton. On the epic front Sydor and teammates Carsten Bresser and Pia Sundsted from the German squad 'Bike Action-Rocky Mountain Bicycles' will share duties on the Trans Germany and the Trans Alps and the World Cup Marathon series.

Peter Vallance is the new team manager. He has has crewed for several professional mountain bike teams, including six years with the Canadian National Team.
