Santa Cruz leak pictures of their Tallboy 29er

By Matthew Cole

US bike company Santa Cruz have leaked details of their latest bike, a 29in-wheeled full-suspension trail bike called the Tallboy.

According to a post on the firm’s blog, the pictures of the Tallboy are very close to the production model, with only minor tweaks left to be made.

Santa Cruz have released the images and details to avoid incorrect information or spy shots appearing on the internet.

The carbon fibre frame has 100mm of VPP travel out back with a carbon upper link and aluminium axles. According to Santa Cruz, the Tallboy is going to be orange, ‘very’ light and stiff.

Production is likely to start at the end of 2009 and Santa Cruz UK say the Tallboy is likely to cost £2,300-£2,399 – the price of their 26in XC and LT models.

We’ll bring you all the details when Santa Cruz have officially let them out of the bag, but until then, take a look at the pictures of the pre-production model and tell us what you think in the comments section below.

  • just me that thinks 29ers never look quite in proportion ?

  • I wish they'd stop thinking of new and interesting ways to get me to spend money I don't have

  • Nice to see the detractors of 29" wheels (Specialized and Santa Cruz) finally jumping on the bandwagon.

"There's money to be made in them 29ers"

29ers only look out of proportion because you've been looking at 26" bikes for the last 20 years. I personally think that extra large 21"+ framed bikes look a bit daft on 26" wheels.

    Is that a onepointfive headtube?
