Luxembourg's cycling siblings Andy and Fränk Schleck have been confirmed as part of Team CSC's lineup for the Tour of Ireland, which takes place between August 22nd and 26th.
22 year-old Andy, who finished second in this year's Giro d'Italia, will be riding with his 27 year-old brother Fränk, the winner of the Alpe d'Huez stage in the 2006 Tour de France. Both riders are talented climbers with the all-round skills to win a major tour. The pair will be joined by Christian Vandevelde, winner of last year's Tour of Luxembourg, and 22 year-old Matti Breschel, one of Denmark's rising stars.
The Tour of Ireland has attracted another three ProTour teams as part of its 16 team line-up. T-Mobile will be sending Austrian sprinter Bernhard Eisel, while Unibet.com's Baden Cooke and Jeremy Hunt will be eager to score some victories in order to find contracts for next season, as Unibet is stopping at the end of the year. Finally, Rabobank will have its cyclo-cross star Sven Nys as part of its roster, along with the young, talented Boy van Poppel.
The ProTour outfits will be up against a number of professional continental teams and the best British squads, including Recycling.co.uk with Premier Calendar winner Chris Newton, Plowman Craven/Evans with Kiwi strongman Gordon McCauley and an Irish national team with Nicholas Roche and Philip Deignan.
