Shimano highlights issue with Dura-Ace wheelsets

Shimano has issued a warning to customers after uncovering a potential problem with two of its Dura-Ace road wheelsets.

The WH-7850-C24-CL and WH-7850-C50-CL clincher wheels come with spoke hole plugs instead of rim tape. Shimano has found that exposed edges on the outer rim wall can cause punctures, so it is advising owners of the wheelsets to switch to full rim tape.

This can be obtained free by calling your dealer or distributor.

All wheels shipped since the problem was noticed already come with rim tape.

  • Cannot understand why they put spoke hole plugs in - they must have been more expensive in material and labour than rim tape.
