Shimano to stage world's first 24hr road race

Event to take place in Brecon Beacons, South Wales

Shimano in partnership with Provelo Support are to stage a 24 hour road race on the Sennybridge army training area of the Brecon Beacons, to be held on the weekend of July 12th-13th, 2008.

Experienced enduro organiser Patrick Adams of Mountain Mayhem fame has spent over three years looking for a suitable venue for the race. "Ten years ago Madison and I worked hard to create the UK's first 24 hour MTB event and now once again it is only right that we are working together to create this new watershed for enduro road racing," he said.

The road circuit will combine dramatic descents and stunning scenery, coupled with some lung busting climbs. Categories will be Elite/1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th, with a handsome prize purse and prizes provided by Shimano.

Only 250 teams will be able to enter in the first year of the race, to enter email patrick@provelo.freeserve.co.uk.
