Fabian Cancellara has revealed his new objectives having won both a major Classic and the world time trial title this season. The Swiss, who won Paris-Roubaix back in April, said of his TT win in Salzburg on Thursday, "It's been a great day. I've thought about this time trial for a long time and now I can look towards other objectives. Milan-San Remo, the Tour of Flanders, as well as the world road title. To achieve these, I will have to work even harder than I have done before."

- Worlds' hosts Austria have announced that under-23 rider Marco Oreggia has tested positive for the blood-boosting product EPO in a dope control carried out by the Austrian federation last week. Two other riders, Christian Ebner and Markus Eibegger, were ejected from the Austrian under-23 team last week after trying to avoid a dope control.

- The International Cycling Union has announced two new events for next year's world track championships. They are an omnium event for men and a team sprint for women. A team pursuit event for women will also be added to the 2008 championships. Both of the women's events are also being included in World Cup rounds.
