Sidi introduces pretty kicks for the ladies

Italian shoe makers Sidi have been the cycling shoe of choice for multiple Grand Tour winner Alberto Contador, world champions Alessandro Ballan and Paolo Bettini, and now the same technology is packaged up pretty -- flowers and all -- for the discerning ciclista bella donna.

The US$270 Sidi Genius Pro 5 Woman is ergonomically designed for the specific shape of women’s feet, the design focuses on the lower volume and proportionally narrow heel of the female foot.

Featuring the new Millennium 3 sole, the Genius Pro 5 Woman is light (538g for size 42) and aerodynamic like the male counterpart. The heel is reinforced and cups the ankle, designed to withstand prolonged use without becoming deformed. The SL buckle allows for micro-adjustments for a precise and comfortable fit, whilst the high security Velcro with its locking polymer teeth that engage more securely, ensure that the shoe remains in place.

Under the pretty flower design lies a hi-tech Lorica synthetic leather upper, Sidi's mainstay. Sidi's says its Lorica combines the finest microfibres to create a water-repellent upper that is resistant to scratching and splitting. Breathability and softness maximise comfort.

Available in sizes 39, 40, 41, 42 and 43.

  • Look like a pair of Pozzato's shoes. Cool though.

  • OMG!! Why oh why does women's cycling gear always have to be covered in FLOWERS!!!! Or be in a hideous bright pink that flatters nobody. It would be so nice if someone made a range of gear in nice merino wool, cut well for the female form and in tastful colours.
