Stefan Schumacher receives two-year French ban

German cyclist Stefan Schumacher was suspended from racing in France for two years for failing a Tour de France dope test in 2008, his lawyer said on Thursday.
The decision was taken by French anti-doping agency AFLD, said Michael Lehner.

Schumacher said he would fight the ban.
"All I want is a fair hearing so that I can prove my innocence," said Schumacher who won both time trial stages of the 2008 Tour de France.
He tested positive for banned blood booster EPO Cera.

Cycling needs power meters on all these cyclists. Then if they can suddenly sustain 420 Watts when they normally only sustain 350 Watts for example, it means they are on something. Schumacher was certainly going well in those time trials...now we know why!

It much reminds me of 2003/2004 when people were legal to race in The Tour de Suisse, while they couldnt do the Tour de France. A no doping policy from the UCI this year.
