Doctor Prentice Steffen has apologised for the comments he made to French sports newspaper L'Equipe
PIC BY TDWSPORT.COM Prentice Steffen regrets the comments he made to L'Equipe, reported last Thursday, in which he recounted information he had of EPO use in this year's Tour de France, and the methods by which riders avoided doping controls. In a statement, Steffen announced his decision to step down from his position as team doctor to the American TIAA-CREF development team, regretting that his comments may have suggested that doping was the only way to succeed, and feeling that he had done the team's riders a disservice by making such comments. Steffen's full statement will appear shortly.
