Steve Peat and Nathan Rennie are on the Santa Cruz Syndicate together, so you'd expect them to be supportive colleagues, right? Well, yes, but they've both been vying for the number one spot this season, so it's not so much a case of two good mates riding for SC, more like two top blokes struggling for supremacy. Being on the Syndicate must be weird for Peaty; he hasn't been on a big pro team with other top-ranking riders since he trained with Mike King on Team GT way back in 1997. In those days, Mike was the big man with all the experience and Steve was the new kid on the block, learning everything he could. Now Peat's at the top but riding with another man at the peak of his career in the shape of Rennie.
