Pioneering International downhiller brings his brand to The Bike ShowChristian Taillefer was one of the original downhillers of the Jason McRoy era and a top boy. Rob once handed out the highest compliment he could muster about Christian: "you'd hardly know he is French".
Later on Christian got involved in the downhill speed record attempt, screaming down the extreme ski slopes at 100 and some kpm in the company of nutters like Eric Baronne. He also did a lot of extreme glacier riding and generally floated away into the haze of specialist mountain sports which is hard to get interested in if you live on a flat green wet island with nothing remotely like a mountain within easy reach.
And then one day, when the Anglo Saxons had all but forgotten him, Christian came screaming back to win a World Cup round at Les Gets, much to the indignation of current stars who were heard muttering about garlic and a stake through the heart.
All the time Christian had been building up his bike business, the star turn of his range being the downhill bike (above). A development of the machine ridden by the Maxxis team last season.
The bike being caressed by the lady in the red clingfilm is the ice bike. The temperature of the young lady can only be guessed at.
