Highlights are set to include elite and open mountain bike and road cycling events, guided rides, rallies and coaching sessions, youth and women's activities, and a host of cycling themed cultural and educational activities and events.

The festival also coincides with the World Mountain Bike Conference on Sustainability (WMBCS), which takes place at Crighton Hall in Dumfries from 12 to 15 May.

Why Dumfries? Local blacksmith Kirkpatrick 'Pate' Macmillan invented the pedal cycle in 1839 and it's also home to the world-renowned 7stanes mountain bike trails and hosts a stage of road cycling's Tour of Britain every year.
