WHO THE HELL IS YUTA KURISE?
This outlandish warrior was the surprise packet of the 04 Bike Show. First of all he was riding a Trek in 4X and the MBUK Duke of Dirt jumping comp - something you never see in Europe, although Trek make some very fine hard core bikes in the USA.

Second, how can someone you've never heard of be so damn good?

To be honest, we weren't expecting him in the Duke of Dirt, he just kind of rode in and did it. 21 year old Yuta speaks little English, but he is politeness itself and he wowed the crowds.

A 360 woke us all up to his talents and he threw in a backflip, in the final, to run off with third prize. Chris Smith's perfect tail whip just shading it for the Frome hucker.

Yuta is in the UK filming with Teisuke Morimoto and his crew, and very Samurai they all looked, which added to the spectacle.

Turns out Yuta is Japanese Champion and a hero in his own country having started riding BMX from age 7. He'll be back in the UK for the Fort William round of the World Cup - yet another reason for you to make your way to the Nevis Range, but first he's coming down to Somerset to ride the trails with the MBUK crew.
