The UK's largest off-road amateur cycling event - enter now!

The 12th Viking Challenge takes place on Sunday 1st October in Redmile, Leicestershire. The two routes - 50K and 30K take in some of the East Midlands' most beautiful countryside, through fields and woods and along towpaths, rough tracks and minor roads.

And what better way to finish the ride than to have one of the best spreads of homemade cake you have ever seen.

This year the Viking Challenge aims to raise over £20,000 for the children of Redmile C of E Primary School and the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. Andy Shields from the CF Trust said: "The Trust is delighted to be working with the Viking Challenge again this year. This funding is vital to our gene therapy research, which we hope will stop CF from claiming so many young lives."

Great prizes
Cakes aren't the only thing on offer for entrants; prizes for those raising the most sponsorship include an sShockwaves Mountain Beach holiday for two and Raleigh bikes worth £500, plus free T-shirts for all riders raising £50 or more.

Entry is £12 for adults and £10 for under-16s. Price includes cakes, refreshments, full support and rescue [although hopefully you won't need it].

More details and entry/sponsorship forms are available here.
