Discovery Channel has continued to strengthen its roster for the 2007 season with the signings of Uros Murn and Gianni Meersman. The pair join Levi Leipheimer, Sergio Paulinho and Tomas Vaitkus as new faces to the squad for the coming season.

Murn, currently riding for Phonak, was the Slovenian national champion in 2004. "Anytime you get a rider with his experience you have to be happy," said Discovery team manager Johan Bruyneel. "Judging by his performance at the Vuelta, I see a bright future for him with the Discovery team."

Meersman, 21, will make his ProTour debut with Discovery after being signed from Belgian domestic team Beveren 2000, where he has chalked up eight victories this season. "Gianni will definitely need time to develop as a rider, but we believe he has what it takes to be successful. We look forward to helping him develop as a rider," said Bruyneel.

Discovery also announced the departure of 11 riders from the 2006 squad: Jos Azevedo, Michael Barry, Manuel Beltran, Viatcheslav Ekimov, Roger Hammond, Leif Hoste, Benoit Joachim, Guennadi Mikhailov, Paolo Savoldelli, Jurgen van den Broeck, and Max van Heeswijk. Ekimov, who announced his retirement during the Tour de France, will stay on with the Discovery Channel team in his new capacity as assistant sports director.
