UCI adds four Pro Continental teams

The International Cycling Union (UCI) has approved four additional professional Continental teams for the 2008 road racing season.

The International Cycling Union (UCI) has approved four additional professional Continental teams for the 2008 road racing season. 

The teams include Extremadura-Gruppo Gallardo (Spain), Preti Mangimi (Luxembourg), Cermica Flaminia Bossini Doce (Italy), and Cycle Collstrop (Sweden), formerly the beleaguered Unibet.com team. 

According to the UCI, applications of the first three of these teams had initially been considered incomplete. The teams appealed to the UCI Management Committee in accordance with Article 2.16.017 of the Regulations. On the basis of the additional information provided, the Management Committee has decided to approve the teams' registration. 

The Cycle Collstrop team has also today been registered as a UCI Professional Continental Team.
