It's under a week to go until Valentines Day and Careys Manor Hotel, Brokenhurst in the New Forest is offering a five-course dinner and bed and breakfast from £110 per person, per night, and they have bike hire!

The hotel, which is under two hours away from London, has a luxurious health centre with swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and fitness suite and their SenSpa offers Eastern and Western treatments. Just the job if you have a non-cycling partner who is on the verge of: "It's me or the bike". Plus you can get a Thai massage - the benefits of massage for cyclists being upheld by Joe Beer, our fitness expert, in the December issue: "Pro riders are seen to have it, it's talked about in riding circles and nearly every club has a masseur nearby," he says. See http://www.senspa.co.uk

After the pampering you might even entice your other half into a bit of cycling. The New Forest Cycle Network has many off-road routes such as the Ornamental Loop for 7.5 to 17 miles, or a local bike shop also recommends: cycling to Beaulieu 7.5-18.5 miles, or through a disused railway and past the deer fields to Burley 21-40 miles. Alternatively there's the ferry over to the Isle of Wight where you can stop for a romantic lunch.

From February to October Careys Manor Hotel also runs cycling breaks, say you saw this on the Cycling Plus website and see their website for special offers: http://www.careysmanor.com or call reservations on 08707 512305.
