Velodrome gurus form joint venture

Dale Hughes and Walter von Luetcken offer services

Velodrome designer Dale Hughes and velodrome builder Walter von Luetcken have formed a joint venture, WorldRecord Tracks, Inc., with offices in the Germany and the U.S.

Von Luetcken is the established provider of traditional strip wood surface tracks and panel tracks in Europe, while Hughes revolutionized the business with his CAD design models and introduction of wood/resin surface panels with steel undercarriages.

Both Hughes and von Luetcken bring an impressive resume of completed projects to the partnership. Hughes and his U.S.-based company V-WorldWide earned international status with the design/build of the 1996 Olympic Velodrome and the 2002 and 2006 Asian Games Velodromes in Korea and Qatar. All new Olympic and Asian Games records were set on these velodromes. V-WorldWide is currently completing the Disabled Sports Velodrome in Beijing, China.

"Our goal is to offer the most advanced design process with the most experienced craftsmen in the world," Hughes said. "Individually, we have both built world record breaking bike tracks, together the results will be phenomenal.”

Von Luetcken owns Velo Track, Europe’s premier builder of tracks used for the Union International Velodrome association’s popular Pro 6 Day race circuit. Velo Track constructed the tracks for the famous Munich 6 and the Milan 6. Most recently von Luetcken completed the resurfacing of the indoor velodrome in Manchester, England where the British Pursuit Team set a New World Record during the 2008 UCI World Track Championships.

“This venture will produce the finest and fastest tracks anywhere, period,” von Luetcken added. "The goal is to produce the fastest, safest, and most cost effective velodromes in the world.”

WorldRecord Tracks, Inc. will offer several kinds of surfaces, undercarriages and geometry in a variety of sizes 333m, 250m, 200m, 166m - custom built or kit form -  permanent, portable or demountable velodromes.

Von Luetcken will head up the German office with emphasis on the European markets and Hughes will head up the U.S. office with emphasis on the American markets.  To contact Walter von Luetcken, email For Dale Hughes, email
