Watching powerful sprints, crashes and Eddy Merckx conjure up carnal reasons for riding a bike. As we head into the dark days of late autumn, BikeRadar thought you'd appreciate some inspiration.
If a picture's worth a thousand words, what then are videos like this worth? Warren Buffett and Bill Gates haven't returned our phone calls yet, so you decide:

You guys at Bikeradar are secret sadists! I can think of a lot more inspirational stuff to look at to get me through another dreaded winter other than guys getting injured after crashing...

Just a note from the compiler of one of these videos. I actually composed the sprint/crash/climb video... as a means of inspiration for myself. Yeah, there are crashes and blood... which are meant to demonstrate the risks we are willing to take and the pain we are willing to endure when participating in this sport at a high level.
My hope for the video was to depict the intense effort, suffering, and triumph of the sport... combining music, still images, and video. At the same time, there are corrupting forces that threaten cycling... those too are alluded to in the video.
So... in the end... this video captures a bit of the theater of the cycling world... some of it gory and sleazy, some of it rich and transcendent. Not a tribute to sadism by any means... Glad many have enjoyed it.
