Video: Whistler helmet cam

Video: Les Gets helmet cam (BikeRadar)
Fed up of the snow, ice and freezing weather at the moment? So are we. So why not watch Mountain Biking UK's Doddy riding the sun-drenched Schleyer trail in Whistler.
It was recorded using Doddy's own homemade 'boom' - a wooden construction which helps give a different perspective of the trail, which we really like.

Nice one! Well done guys, would love to see the boom you rigged and get some feedback on how you managed to get it so rigid. If you could rig another camera forward mounted you could have some serious fun cutting them together. Would look good mounted above and behind the helmet facing forwards no??

That's completely hilarious aswell as awesome. His head looks like it has been pinned to the back drop and his body & bike are falling around all over the place. made me laugh.
Immense though. You can see the trail behind him!

why is the camera facing you? i think it would be safe to say we would prefer to see the track... same reason as your mag always has you guys on the front i guess ;)

the guy in front must be super steady rider to keep his face in the picture all the time. Still, bit close should pointing forwards I think.

The camera is mounted to his helmet off of a boom and facing backwards so you can see his face. It's not been shot by the guy infront.
As for having the camera facing that way, dont you think it atleast gives you something different from the usual forward only shots?
Obviously it woud be nice to see an edit with a mix of front and back facing but I still find videos like this interesting.

So totally original and awesome. What a great perspective. Nice job and great music, too. It also gives non-riders a look at why mountain biking and especially down riding is so fun. I just watched it again with my 6 year-old and he's hooked, too. But, better still, it just looks like a lot of fun.
Thanks again for all the great work!

I dont understand how this camera setup works... how is it showing his face and not the trail? and where is the camera situated?

Here's a similar video we shot in Morzine. We made the boom from a piece of broken fencing, a few zip ties and some duct tape. It may have looked minging but it worked well enough. Look out for the 'off' part way down the track (the Pleney by the way)
