Vision TriMax Carbon TC24 carbon tubular wheel unveiled

Filippo Pozzato's Flanders "mystery wheel" a mystery no longer

We spotted a previously unidentified shallow-profile wheel on the front of Filippo Pozzato's (Katusha) bike the morning of the Tour of Flanders. It was labeled 'Vision' but had an uncharacteristic outer weave - was it in fact a Vision wheel?

FSA's Gloria Radaelli (Vision is a subset of FSA) has revealed that it really is a new Vision wheel that was originally going to be released at the Sea Otter Classic later this month.

The new wheel's official name is the TriMax Carbon TC24 and the carbon tubular rims feature a shallow 24mm depth but also a relatively generous 23mm section width.  Vision laces those rims to its own CNC-machined aluminum hubs with straight-pull bladed Sapim stainless steel spokes (20 front, 24 rear).  Axles are unusually large at 17mm in diameter and the aluminum freehub bodies are swappable between Shimano/SRAM and Campagnolo standards.

Total claimed weight per pair is a paltry 1,250g.  Suggested retail price for the TriMax Carbon TC24 is yet to be finalized but will be "less than €2,000" and carbon/titanium skewers, brake blocks, and wheel bags will all be included.  According to Radaelli, the new TriMax Carbon TC24 will be available to the public starting this July.
