Will Lance Armstrong ride the Sarthe/Loire Tour?

By BikeRadar, AFP | Monday, Dec 22, 2008 10.32am

On Saturday, the organisers of the Tour of the Sarthe/Loire announced that Lance Armstrong would be competing in the five stage event, which takes place on the 7 to 10 April.

However, Team Astana denied the seven-time Tour de France winner's participation yesterday; it seems they have other plans for Lance's comeback.

Their rebuttal came in a statement, which said: "Contrary to certain announcements, Lance Armstrong will not be competing in the Tour of the Sarthe/Loire. Astana will confirm Armstrong's schedule once it is finalised."

The 36-year-old Armstrong is currently scheduled to return to competition in January, when he'll ride the Tour Down Under in preparation for his main objective – an eighth Tour de France triumph in July.

  • Once again, his objective is not really winning the tour!!! The media always create all this fuzz drama, ridiculous!

  • BORING BORING BORING

Not a scrap of news here!!

Hell my racing schedule is also a secret, but thats not news either.

  • you guys heard of twitter? the man himself said he wont be there!!! and turboman, no offence intended, but do you think you are as famous a cyclist as mr armstrong?! hmmmmmm...

  • None taken.

check out my twitter(?) for more no-news about which events I'm not riding in either!

I can confirm ther will be a 3 hour ride on the 27th if anyone fancy's it.

    Merry Christmas all

  • Cripes! This isn't "news", as turboman2112 said. It's a load of crap... First you hear that he's going for an 8th TdF. Then you hear that he's going to ride the TdF in support of Contador, and he's going for a Giro win. Now this report says he's going for the Tdf!

At this point, I'm starting to doubt whether Lance is really coming back!
