"World's smallest velodrome" coming to Glasgow on 25 June

Red Bull Mini Drome racing competition is open for registration

Billed as the world’s smallest velodrome, the Red Bull Mini Drome is coming to Glasgow, Scotland on 25 June.

With the Barrowland Ballroom playing host, it will be only the second time the track has visited Britain and is a first for Scotland. The event is open to all fixed gear riders aged 16 and over. Only 100 riders will be selected – at random – to take part, with registration closing on 17 June at 11.59pm. The venue holds 600 people and the event is free to enter on a first come, first serve basis.

The purpose built track has been engineered in Germany by Velotrack, the team who built the tracks at the Atlanta Olympics and Delhi Commonwealth Games. It will maintain racing dimensions in the smallest possible size to enable a single pursuit.

Qualifying starts at 2pm on 25 June and the 100 competitors will enter a single timed race of 10 laps. The fastest 32 will contest the finals later that evening at 7pm. Only fixed gear bikes can be used and helmets are a must. To register, visit www.redbull.co.uk/minidrome.
