There are widespread reports in the German media today saying that not only is Erik Zabel definitely set to leave T-Mobile for Domina Vacanze next season, but that a German sponsor will be getting into bed with the Italian team as well. German dairy company Nordmilch, based in Bremen, are being linked with a move into cycling with Domina to promote its Milram range, with veteran sprinter Zabel apparently seen as the ideal man to spearhead the campaign.

As well as being linked with Zabel, Domina's mooted cooperation with Nordmilch is said to involve perhaps as many as another 10 riders, with Team Wiesenhof boss Jrg Stenger rumoured to be providing the manpower. However, separate stories suggest that Wiesenhof, who are pulling out of the sport at the end of the season, are to merge with fellow continental team Akud-Arnold Sicherheitare.

While the German side of the deal has yet to be confirmed or denied by Domina, team boss Gianluigi Stanga has revealed that three of Alessandro Petacchi's lead-out train will be joining the sprinter at Domina next season. Alberto Ongarato, Fabio Sacchi and Marco Velo are the three Fassa Bortolo men following Petacchi.
