We'll leave it at that after 21 stages of brilliant bike racing around England and France. We hope you enjoyed BikeRadar's live updates of this race, and indeed the rest of our coverage. Of course, it doesn't stop there for us and we'll continue to bring you stories from all aspects of cycling on BikeRadar.com!

Alberto Contador is safely home in yellow, and the 24 year old has won the Tour de France! No changes to the top of the GC, as was expected. We still ended up with one of the closest Tour finishes ever. A great finish to a sometimes controversial edition of the race.

But at the line, it's Daniele Bennati who wins it from Hushovd and Zabel!!! Nice work by Lampre. Boonen's team just didn't get it together today, but he'll keep the green jersey of cocurse. He was fifth, behind Hunter.

  • Distance covered: 145KM

    Distance remaining: 1KM

Into the finishing straight and Boonen is still fighting for wheels. Hunter leads out.

  • Distance covered: 145KM

    Distance remaining: 1KM

1km to go and threre are two Credit Agricoles in front of Hushov.d. Then Boonen is fighting with Hunter to get onto his train.

The bunch flies under the tunnel and Dean is near the front, clad in the black and white NZ champion's jersey. Still one Lampre rider left in front.

  • Distance covered: 144KM

    Distance remaining: 2KM

Under the tunnel and Quick.Step is moving up behind Lampre. Boonen is there in 10th, with Tosatto and Steegmans in front of him. Hushovd is moving up behind Dean.

  • Distance covered: 143KM

    Distance remaining: 3KM

Patxi Vila does a massive turn along the Seine towards the tunnel. They go under 3km to go, so the GC riders can rest easy now. Any crash will not change the times.

  • Distance covered: 143KM

    Distance remaining: 3KM

Now there's a push from FDJ for Chavanel. Quick.Step is holding its men back.
