Live Race Report 3:41
The biggest road race of the year, this year's Tour takes a clockwise loop round France, starting in London.
Distance covered: 184KM
Distance remaining: 0KM
That was an eventful day of racing! There will be some sore bodies in the Astana camp tonight. Vinokourov lost a chunk of time (and flesh), while Andreas Kloden will also be nursing injuries, although he did manage to finish in the bunch.
That is all from us today. We will return tomorrow at 12:50 (11:50 BST) with live coverage of stage 6 between Semur-en-Auxois and Bourg-en-Bresse.
Distance covered: 184KM
Distance remaining: 0KM
Provisional results
1 Filippo Pozzato (Ita ¦ Liquigas) 04:39:01
2 Oscar Freire (Spa ¦ Rabobank)
3 Daniele Bennati (Ita ¦ Lampre-Fondital)
4 Kim Kirchen (Lux ¦ T-Mobile Team)
5 Erik Zabel (Ger ¦ Team Milram)
General classification after stage 5
1 Fabian Cancellara (Swi ¦ Team CSC)
Distance covered: 184KM

Pozzato rode that sprint very well, hitting the front with 150m to go. Was that Bennati third - yes. Kirchen fourth ahead of Zabel. Fabian Cancellara will keep the yellow jersey.
Distance covered: 184KM
Distance remaining: 0KM
But it's Filippo Pozzato who wins it!!! All the work from Liquigas paid off. Freire was up there for second.
Vino drives it home, 1'20 behind the main GC riders. Not a good day for him.
Distance covered: 183KM
Distance remaining: 1KM
The Millar move is closed down by Lampre, leading what's left of the main field. Cancellara is there, as is Zabel...and Freire.
Distance covered: 183KM
Distance remaining: 1KM
Millar does a turn with Lefevre, with the bunch breathing down their necks. Vino is less than a minute behind, but he's not going to get that back.
Distance covered: 182KM
Distance remaining: 2KM
Lampre leads with 2km to go, as Vino goes under 3km to go. The Kazakh will lose time.
David Millar has attacked to bridge up to Lefevre!
Distance covered: 181KM
Distance remaining: 3KM
Popovych has been caught. It's Lampre leading into Autun. Hincapie is well up there. There's one more little climb before the finish.
Distance covered: 179KM
Distance remaining: 5KM
Lefevre is doing his best to cling onto Popovych. And the bunch certainly isn't letting them go. Popovych is taking a lot of risks!
Distance covered: 178KM
Distance remaining: 6KM
Vino is driving a group with Tom Boonen on his wheel. But the Belgian obliges by doing a turn. If he gets back, he could win the stage.
Popovych is taking this tricky descent well, losing Lefevre a little.
