Over 500 mountain bikers will compete in the 15th edition of La Ruta de los Conquistadores in Costa Rica between November 14th and 17th.

The coast-to-coast, mostly off-road epic is 360km long with 12,000m of climbing, spread over four challenging days. It starts in Jaco Beach on Costa Rica's west coast and finishes on the east coast in Playa Bonita (Limon).

The toughest stage is the first one between Jaco Beach and El Rodeo. It's 95km of technical trails, featuring over 4,400m of climbing, and will test the riders right from the off. Stage 2 is 75km between El Rodeo and Terremall. It's half on-road, but includes over 3,500m of climbing to make it another tough stage.

The third stage is the shortest, 67km between Terramall and Aquiares. But the trails are rocky and gravelly making it one of the most dangerous legs. The last day is 120km between Aquiares and Limon. It contains a mixture of trails: gravel, road, railway tracks and mud.
