Stage 6: Semur-en-Auxois - Bourg-en-Bresse 200km

Friday, July 13, 2007 2.27pm

Analysis by Jean-François Pescheux, Tour competition director: “The first part of the stage passes through the Burgundy hills, where there are about 40 rolling kilometres, but then it is all flat into the finish. This is basically a transition stage before the mountains, where the main contenders will be hoping to save as much gas as possible for the bigger efforts soon to come. Given the profile, the stage doesn’t look likely to favour breakaways, and with the teams targeting the yellow jersey likely to neutralise each other, this should give a chance to the sprinters aiming for the green jersey to bag some points before the Alps snuff them out for a while. This should mean there is a super finish right in the centre of Bourg en Bresse.”
