Italy's Adriano Malori wins U-23 world time trial crown

Adriano Malori of Italy claimed cycling gold in the men's under-23 time trial at the world road race championships on Tuesday.

Malori, the last to start from the field of 63 riders, got Varese's hosting of the competition off to the perfect start by coming over the finish line of the 33.55km course in a superb time of 41min 35secs.

Germany's Patrick Gretsch, a former junior world champion in the race against the clock, took the silver medal after finishing second at 49secs, while Australia's Cameron Meyer took bronze at 1min 04sec off the pace.
