Tour of Britain 3: Albasini takes lead in Swansea

Team Sky miss out as Henderson dropped

HTC-Columbia took control at Tour of Britain on Monday with Switzerland’s Michael Albasini surviving terrible weather conditions in Wales to win the stage to Swansea and take the race leader’s yellow jersey.

Albasini finished second to Greg Henderson (Team Sky) in Stoke on Trent on Sunday but the Kiwi sprinter faltered in the tough conditions. He was not part of the front group that caught lone-attacker Cameron Meyer (Garmin-Transitions) just before the steep climb of Constitution Hill in Swansea and so Albasini took full advantage, winning the stage and taking to the time bonus to secure other overall race lead.
