If you haven’t heard much about the event before, it involves 2,500 riders tackling 180 miles around a full anti-clockwise loop of the city. The 101-mile first day starts at Peruvian Wharf in the Docklands before heading North out through the Ingrebourne Valley, round through Epping Forest and the Lea Valley before rolling through the Chilterns and into Windsor Racecourse for an overnight party. There riders will experience live music, an outdoor cinema, hot food and camping (for those who have chosen to stay overnight).
The 84-mile second day sees riders depart early the following morning south towards Box Hill before completing a couple of laps of Herne Hill Velodrome and finishing back where they started.
Entry to the full ride, including accommodation, is £169, which is reduced to £78/£39 if you only want to ride. For your money you get a fully signed route, feed stations, mechanical support, broom wagons, ride support chaperones and National Escort Group motorbike assistance through busy intersections. If you are staying overnight, you’ll get hot food, showers, tents, toilets and entertainment.
Only 100 places are left of the maximum 750 available for the ride plus overnight stay, while 1,250 have signed on to the event as a whole. Visit the website for all the route information and details on how to enter.
