Shimano unveils Dura-Ace Di2 electronic groupset

Shift lever throws will be replaced by near-zero movement buttons that are analogously placed for familiar operation.

  • The upcoming Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 7970 electronic group will only consist of Dual Control levers, derailleurs and a battery. The rest will be shared with the standard 7900 group.
  • The 7970 front derailleur also houses the system CPU.
  • Save for the big bulge at the rear, the 7970 rear derailleur looks surprisingly similar to the standard mechanical unit.
  • Shimano says the small Li-ion battery will last for 1000km of
  • Lever ergonomics are similar to 7900 though it appears the lever blades aren't quite as canted.
