Tubus Disco Rack (09) | $154
BikeRadar verdict
"Quality, disc-specific rack with impressive guarantee"
We're big fans of Tubus’s repairable steel racks, thanks to their quality construction and light weight. The 670g Disco is designed for bikes running disc brakes, where the calliper often fouls the rack arm, and is rated to 20kg.
By sweeping the legs further back and out of harm’s way, the Disco can be mounted on either the eyelets on your frame, if it has them, or using the wheel’s axle and the long skewer provided – in the style of an Old Man Mountain rack.
On the small frame we tested it on, we still needed to space out one side with the shims provided, so the rack doesn’t sit quite evenly over the rear wheel. But it’s still considerably stiffer than the rack it replaced, and has cleaner, more elegant lines.
If the price tag seems a tad steep, it’s worth remembering that not only do Tubus guarantee their racks for 10 years, but there’s also a mobile guarantee for the first three.
A replacement rack will be sent out to you anywhere in the world as long as you register. We can’t imagine many Tubus racks failing, but this is still reassuringly impressive.
Manufacturers description
The Disco rear carrier is perfect for bikes with disk brakes. The vertical tubes of the carrier suround the disk-brake unit from the rear. This keeps the carrier narrow at its bottom end, for maximum stiffness. The Disco comes with a Sqewer, for hub mounting. But it can also be mounted, if existing, at the carrier-mounting eyelets of your frame.User Reviews

You can get disk brake specific racks for a third of the price that are equal in quality.

DON'T LET THE FANCY WARRANTY FOOL YOU!
Bought one of these to use with my TREK mountain bike, hard to find something that fits when you have disc brakes. My Tubus Disco lasted for about a week until my bike fell over and the rack bent and cut into my tyre leaving me stuck in the middle of nowhere with a slash in my tyre. Tried to email tubus, but was left emptyhanded because it only covers "normal" use.
To quote Peter Ronge responsible for design and construction at Tubus: “In a nutshell, our carriers are made for normal use, also rough use and overloading, but they are not good in accidents.” Any my accident wasn't even a serious one, as the bike just fell over!
So why pay the extra bucks for a useless warranty?
Suffice to say, I will not be getting a tubus rack again.
