Specialized Bicycles Beanie Hat | $2900
BikeRadar verdict
"Worn alone it's very comfortable and might suit riders who dislike helmets but train in very cold conditions. "
Made from 100 percent acrylic, this is a low tech, yet practical and stylish solution to keeping your bonce warm during the winter months. The one size fits snugly and unlike some does not feel cumbersome under a helmet, although I found the material very warm, there was no wicking and even on extremely cold rides it quickly became intolerably hot and sweaty.
However, worn alone it was very comfortable and might suit riders who dislike helmets but train in very cold conditions. Being black and with discrete logo, it's not extrovert but makes a nice casual garment and drew quiet acknowledgement from other cyclists as I passed in the street. Strangely, the washing instructions are hand-wash only which might put some off and I resisted chancing a machine wash for fear of it shrinking or losing shape.
