Cut in soft Gore-Tex Paclite, the Alp X features long arms and a dropped rear that can be extended with a foldaway shirt tail.

The front zip is protected by twin storm flaps and hemmed by a mesh strip, and the flaps can be left open for ventilation. The hem and high collar have fast adjustment elastic loops and there's a waterproof mobile-phone sized 'Napoleon' front pocket, which is handy. The rear mesh pocket is too small for a map though, and is too tight even for the jacket to squeeze into.

    Versatile cut, soft material, acceptable breathability according to very good waterproof, several reflectives (front pocket, arms near wrists, back); all these caracteristics make this vest very useful for either everyday commuting or rainy non race road rides.

    My only reservation is on front zip ventilation, which is very practical to use, but worries me about water infiltration, since only storm flaps protect mesh strip. But I haven't any waterproof issue so far.

    Optional hood can be added, but is mainly useful for non on bike usage.

    Price may be difficult to swallow...

    Sequel:

    Today, under quite heavy rain, I had slight frontal water infiltration; double front flap wasn't correctly closed (under flap wasn't correctly folded). So rider must close carefully double flap before going out when it's raining.

    Sequel 2:

    After an ironing to get a clear fold of front zip storm flap (the one wedged between zip and external flap), so infiltrated water is trapped, risk of water coming through front opening (including zip and mesh part) has gone.
