Simple and well put-together

Gore-Tex has been the name in breathable waterproof fabrics since the dawn of time. Gore-Tex Active is designed to add even more breathability to the fabric, and the Gore Power Gore-Tex Active jacket makes the most of this technology.

It has a generous cut, with long enough sleeves to cover gloves with longish cuffs. You can fit more layers beneath it, too, but we'd worry about overheating. The back has a deeper drop, helping your rear stay dryer.

It has just a single rear pocket, though this does have an integrated waterproof pouch for your mobile. It has velcro-adjustable cuffs and a full-length waterproof zip with a storm flap and zip garage.

There's no drawstring around the hem, but the rear is elasticated – it does a reasonable job, though isn't quite as effective as a drawstring. There are reflective details on the arms, back and sides.

As impressively waterproof as we'd expect, but its breathability isn't up with the NeoShell. We've found Gore-Tex to work better the colder it is – with temperatures hovering around 12 degrees, we got pretty sweaty. We'd have liked pit zips to aid cooling, but these would have increased the cost.
