Solo Raincoat - in brief £70

Transparent weatherproof jacket for spring/autumn

BikeRadar score 3/5

Unsurprisingly given its name, Solo’s Rainoat copes well with the worst spring weather, but what we weren’t expecting was that it isn’t fazed by the season’s better conditions either.

And despite being able to keep the cold winds and early morning mists at bay, at just 107g it’s creeping into seriously lightweight territory.

Fit is close around the body, keeping you as wind-cheating as possible, and a high, mesh-lined collar stops draughts getting in. The sleeves could use a little more length, and while cramming into a jersey pocket is possible it’s not the most packable of jackets.

It’s also one of the most plasticky-feeling.
