Bio-Racer Neoprene Overshoes
BikeRadar verdict
"For those needing to use expensive road shoes through the grimier months, these are worth considering, but we suggest trying them with the intended shoes before buying."
Overshoes are a winter essential, protecting rider and expensive footwear from the elements. Made from a neoprene/polyester mix with reflective logos, piping and closure tabs, this otherwise conservative design draws other road users' attention to your presence fairly effectively.
However, I was somewhat disappointed by rapid fraying of the stitching and unexpected deterioration of one upper panel on the test sample. This hasn't worsened through repeated use though, and they shrug at wet, salt/dung strewn winter lanes and bridle paths - just chuck them in the washing machine at a low temperature and they're ready for more.
The fit is very snug - great if you're using traditional, flat-soled race shoes, but persuading them over a bulkier training shoe can prove awkward. On the bike they have proved very warm and comfortable even after several hours' riding, and although suitably thick they didn't brush annoyingly against the crank arms.
For those needing to use expensive road shoes through the grimier months, these are worth considering, but I would suggest trying them with the intended shoes before buying.
