Nike Spin Trainer Plus
BikeRadar verdict
"Futuristic trainer looks with a good, stiff cycling sole"
The Spins are designed for indoor riding, though there's no reason why you couldn't use them round the city too. They've got futuristic trainer looks - flashy silver uppers, web strap closure, and lime green accents - which don't hint to their bikey purpose. However, the soles are actually quite stiff and there's a reasonable depth for the cleat to recess into the tread. There's no tongue as such; the lightweight Spins go on like a sock.
Unfortunately, the cool web straps don't allow much fine-tuning and I found the shoes too loose in the toe box. Fit at the heel was snug though, thanks to the tight foot opening. Suitably for indoor sweat boxes (the gym), the nylon uppers are well ventilated. Padding is very minimal too and they are the lightest shoes on test. In case you miss the shiny silver, there's a reflective pull-on tab at the heel.
