Altura Altitude
BikeRadar verdict
"Unique feeling, but comfy, durable top value riding shorts"
The Altitude shorts have been our preferred budget baggies for a while now - and they're even better this year.
Altura's liner is still unique as it's fixed to the shell at the top as well as the bottom of the legs, rather than just the top. This feels odd in a 'free range' way at first, but get the right size and support is good when hovering above the saddle or pedalling.
The shell doesn't ride up and 'flash' when you're pedalling either and the proper zip fly makes it great for fast pee breaks. The pad is far better than we'd expect at this price plus the new Altec fabric is softer and quieter than last year's, and it wicks and dries fast too. Durability seems fine so far: seamless crotch panel stops chafing and two plastic tabbed side straps make adjustments easy, yet the cargo pockets are only Velcro tabbed so stuff can fall out. Pricing is impressive, but also try the Summit for an extra tenner.
