Technical, tight-fitting long sleeve base layer

Linebreak are an Aussie compression wear brand who are beginning to make a mark in the UK with their own take on tight-fitting, performance-enhancing Lycra.

We’ve been running and riding in their long sleeve compression baselayer during the transition from summer to autumn and we’re pretty impressed. The material is very fine and quite silky to touch, which means that it clings like a second skin without feeling too uncomfortable.

While it does initially feel cold to the skin it’s fast to warm through. As you build the intensity of the workout, sweat is able to evaporate without too much trouble and we found the top dried off during a ride as long as we helped with outer layer venting. Body length was good, with our medium fitting a 5ft 9in tester without riding up.

Gripes are few: we weren’t massive fans of the deep V-neck style – we’re sure that in warm Australia it’s nice to have the breeze, but in near-Arctic Britain we’d like a crew or mock-turtle neck in future.
